We continue to pray for the health of the father of Girls Flag Football Coach, Kim Phipps. Coach Phipp's father (who is also the uncle of Mrs. Martin-Romero) has contracted leukemia. May God grant him health and strength.

CELEBRATING SUCCESSES
Congratulations once again to Mrs. Diane Doyle and Mrs. Bobbi Harris for their 21 and 12 years of respective service to ICS. May God bless them as they transition into a beautiful and well deserved period of retirement. ICS will not be the same without them, but is forever who and what it is because of them. Thank you, Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Harris for your AMAZING dedication to ICS and our school's mission. God bless you, Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Harris, and congratulations!
IOWA ASSESSMENT SCORES
As a part of today's packet of information going home to families, please expect scores for Grades 2 - 8 on this past March's Iowa Assessment. Two additional forms have been included in this traditional information to help you in understanding and interpreting your child(ren)'s results.
The familiar form includes your child's National Percentile Rankings for the various domains of the test. A National Percentile Ranking (NPR) is not the same thing as a letter grade or percentage score used in classroom settings. For example, a 65% on a science test administered by your child's classroom teacher is much different than scoring in the 65th National Percentile Ranking. Scoring a 65% on a classroom assignment means that your son/daughter only successfully got 65% of the items correct. A National Percentile Ranking of 65, though, means that your son/daughter scored better than 65% of the other students who took the same test at the same time. An average NPR score is around the 50th NPR. An NPR score of 50 would mean that your son/daughter is progressing at the typical pace of a student from that particular grade level.
-Grade Equivalent (GE)
One of the two new forms that we have decided to include this year involve a longitudinal view of your child's progress over the past three years (2nd graders will not have longitudinal data as this is the first year they took the test; 3rd graders will only have two years of data). This form will include both the NPR scores and a Grade Equivalent (GE) mark. A Grade Equivalent is a measure of your child's abilities in terms of grade level and month of the school year. So, for a 5th grader who receives a GE of 5.7 for a domain means that he/she scored like a student is in the seventh month of 5th grade. However, a 5th grader who receives a GE of 10.8 (the eighth month of sophomore year) should not be expected to jump from 5th to 10th grade. A GE score that is higher than the current grade level of your child (10.8 for a 5th grader) indicates that your son/daughter scored as well as a sophomore in the eighth month of school would have scored on the 5th grade exam. For this longitudinal form, look for an upward line (from left to right) and at least one GE growth for each point on the graph. A downward line may indicate the need for remediation.

Finally, ICS is in the process of completing short videos meant to help you interpret your child's scores. Notification will be sent once these videos are done and posted. Stay tuned and be sure to contact your child's teacher should you have any questions.

2013 - 14 ICS Yearbooks can still be purchased from the School Office for $35.00. Checks should be made payable to Incarnation Catholic School.
Students will have an opportunity to get others to sign their Yearbook tomorrow after Mass and awards. Don't miss out on this chance to capture in book form the AMAZING memories from this past year.
Mr. Dominick DiCarlo, ICS Music teacher, has accepted a full-time teaching position at Jesuit High School. We wish Mr. DiCarlo much success and many blessings in his new position and we thank him for his transitional work these past few months at ICS.
A search for a new part-time Music teacher is already underway.
USED UNIFORM SALE

The Incarnation Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a Golf Event on Saturday June 7 at Heritage Harbor Golf Club. Cost is $75.00 per player. For more details, contact the School Office.
MEDICATIONS IN THE OFFICE
If your child had any medication housed in the Main Office for this school year, please be sure to stop by and pick it up. Medication will not be given to students to transport home. If you have any questions, please contact the Main Office.
FROM THE MOUTH OF A CHILD
ICS participates in Morning Gathering on a regular basis. This short time spent together as a school community in St. Michael Hall prior to beginning our day allows the us to celebrate birthdays, hear timely announcements, receive a "Thought for the Day" and pray, salute our country and recite our Mission Statement. Jesuit High School has a similar program called "Convocation", in which the entire student body gathers in their chapel for very analogous reasons.
At the beginning of the month of May, the "Thought for the Day" centered on the transformative power of the Sacraments as Mrs. Gonzalez was getting married, 2nd graders were receiving First Holy Communion and 8th graders were being Confirmed all within the same week.
Upon Mrs. Gonzalez's return to ICS, Shawna Balco, a PreK student, said to Mrs. Gonzalez, "Mr. Zelenka said that you got transformed when you got married, but you don't look any different to me."
AMAZING that even our youngest students can pick up on these and other such messages! Great job, Shawna!
LAST DAY
Please to join us tomorrow in the Church at 8:30 for our final celebration of the Eucharist as a school community during this 2013 - 14 school year. We will participate in our Ascension Ceremony at 8:20. Each grade level will ascend to their next status prior to Mass.
After Mass we will hand out end of the year awards. Then, the Class of 2015 will announce next year's theme!
Finally, students will be dismissed back to Homeroom for class level celebrations. Dismissal is at 12:00 p.m. There is no Aftercare available.
BUCKET BRIGADE
This weekend, June 7 and 8, Fr. Michael has asked the school community to participate in a fundraising effort to engage the parishioners of Incarnation for donations after all of the Masses (4:30 p.m. on Saturday; 7:30, 9:00 and 10:30 a.m., 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday). Students and families who are willing and able to help us with this effort are encouraged to report to the back of the Church right before the final blessing to help us collect donations. Monies collected will help to rewire the ICS campus to strengthen and enhance or internet connection. We hope to see you this weekend.
