We offer up continued prayers for Mrs. Gonzalez's pregnancy. May she, her husband, the baby continue to enjoy good health and growth and a great birth.

We continue to pray for Mrs. Yvette Rosario, Erik's (Grade 7) mother, who had surgery last week. May the Lord grant her a speedy recovery!

We continue to pray for 5th Grader Matthew Graterol and his family as they mourn the loss of his maternal grandmother. May God usher His love to Matthew and his family at this time.

Please keep praying for Flavio da Silva, Mickaella Marcal's (Gr. 2) father. May Mr. da Silva continue on the path to full recovery.

Hope Will Rise

God's love is enough. God loves us. Therefore, we are enough. He is calling all of us to holiness. He is calling all of us to greatness. He is calling all of us to sainthood.

Be who God created you to be. Be yourself.

Be what God created you to be. Be blessed. Be bold. Be holy. Be great. Be a saint.

Be a marigold (see below).

Hope Will Rise.

ICS Family Meetings
Thank you once again to the over 150 families who attended one of our two family meetings last week. We hope that you found the information presented to be helpful, affirming, challenging and supportive. We are so grateful for your support of our AMAZING school! Thank you.

Families who were not able to attend will be contacted by office personnel. Once we have had an opportunity to speak with you, 2nd quarter report cards will be disseminated.

As a wrap-up, please to note the following key points from each of the sessions: Academics, Faith, and Digital Media.

5th - 8th graders who have demonstrated a need for this intervention support will become a part of this program in its initial phase. A letter will be issued to those families whose children will be offered this service. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Gonzalez: gonzalezl@icstampa.org or Mr. Woodward: woodwardb@icstampa.org

*MARIGOLDS

Be a marigold. Let us - all of us - every adult at ICS - be a field of marigolds surrounding and protecting our students so that they, too, can survive, grow, blossom and bloom

There is strength in numbers. There is hope to bring.

Let it rise.

Marigolds are planted to help nurture weaker plants. Farmers and gardeners have long known that marigolds make important companion plants all over the garden. Not only does the scent of the marigold (Tagetes spp.) repel animals and insects, but the underground workings of the marigold will repel nematodes (microscopic worms) and other pests for up to 3 years.

Cold Weather Gear - Reminders!
Please be sure to reference the January 14, 2016 Newsletter or the ICS Handbook for details about guidelines for cold weather clothing as it pertains to our ICS Uniform Policy.

If you have any questions about cold weather gear, please contact Mrs. Lisa Gonzalez: gonzalezl@icstampa.org or (813) 884-4502.

Prayers

We pray for Mrs. Yvette Rosario, Erik's (Grade 7) mother, who is having surgery this week. May the Lord be with her doctors and nurses and may the surgery be successful, granting Mrs. Rosario a speedy recovery back to full health.

We pray for 5th Grader Matthew Graterol and his family as they mourn the loss of his maternal grandmother. May God grant Matthew, his mother and their family peace, comfort and strength during this difficult time.

We pray for an end to abortion and euthanasia, capital punishment, and human trafficking. May we who call ourselves Christians work toward eradicating these and other injustices.

We pray for legislators to support Florida's Tax Credit Scholarship program, Step Up for Students. This program works toward social justice and allows ICS to faithfully serve the universal Catholic Church. May legislators recognize the importance of this and other similar programs and continue to allow it to support our children and families. #dropthesuit

We pray for peace in our world. May it begin in our hearts, homes and community.

We pray for the success of our ICS Family Meetings. We pray for a great turnout of families. We pray for our teachers and students. We pray for our Administration that their words may be God's words and that the result of the meetings may be a stronger and more unified school community.

We continue to pray for Flavio da Silva, Mickaella Marcal's (Gr. 2) father. May the Lord continue to grant Mickaella's father full health and strength.

Have a prayer request? Send it to icsmzele@icstampa.org.

Hope Will Rise

"We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope."

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. brings us today's Hope Will Rise quote. With an obvious connection to our school-wide mantra, "We can do hard things", this quote inspires us to stay focused, committed and determined despite challenges and setbacks.

May we at ICS be people with hope to bring to ourselves, each other and our world.

Hope Will Rise.

ICS Family Meetings
Please note the dates above for mandatory meetings for all ICS families:

-Thursday January 21 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Michael Hall

-Saturday January 23 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Michael Hall

Two sessions are available so that you can coordinate your schedules and be sure to attend. Childcare for ICS students will also be available to help make it even easier for your family to attend.

2nd Quarter / 1st Semester report cards will be disseminated at the meetings; you will be able to pick up your child's report card at either meeting.

Let's rally our entire school community around our students. They're worth it. We can do it.

Please attend.

Thoughts from ICS Students

In conjunction with a religion project on the saints, two ICS students stated that they looked up to the saint they were studying because they wanted to be a priest! What an incredible statement about the faith life of our ICS students - a vocation to the priesthood is not only socially acceptable but actually desired!

If that wasn't enough, one of our PreK-3 students stated to her father that she loves her teachers because she can tell that they love Jesus, "the one from the statue".

May God continue to bless ICS!

Bouncy bands and Big Joe bean bag chairs have been delivered and installed in classrooms!

Standing desks have been delivered and are in the process of being constructed and placed into rooms.
