Prayers
We pray for the repose of the soul of Beatriz Isabel Ruiz and all her family and friends. Ms. Ruiz was a close friend of Yanneris Perez, mother of Oscar De Los Rios (Grade 1). May God offer strength and comfort to Oscar's family during this difficult time.

We pray for the grandfather of Mrs. Sabella (Jaclyn and Anna, Grades K and 3), Mr. Charles Bell, Jr., who passed into eternal life. May God be with Mrs. Sabella and her family and may they take comfort in the hope and peace of the Resurrection.

We also pray for 7th grader Matt Covington and his family as they mourn the loss of his grandfather, Gene Bulso. May God surround the Covington family with His love, peace and strength.

We pray once again for all of our students who will be receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist this weekend! May God be with these students (mostly 2nd graders) and their families and may they serve as wonderful reminders and examples of reverence for the Eucharist.

We pray for Analia Diaz (K) who will be baptized this weekend! May God bless you, Analia!

Finally, we continue to pray for all of our students (8th graders) who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in two weeks. We pray that through the gifts of the Holy Spirit - Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear of the Lord - our newly confirmed will live with renewed vigor for Jesus Christ!

Have a prayer request? Send it to: icsmzele@icstampa.org. Prayers will run for two weeks unless otherwise specified.

ICS Family Challenge
Today's ICS Family Challenge quote comes to us from the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis I. Pope Francis challenges our young people to strive for excellence.

May we, as parents and teachers, join together in helping our most valuable resource, our children, develop into life-long, faith-filled and passionate Christians! Let us lead our students in the Christian life so that they may attain these high ideals mentioned by the Pope!

Please pray for Pope Francis that he may continue his blessed ministry of our Church and world.

Please pray for all families that they may grow closer to Christ and in doing so draw their children into deeper relationship with Him as well.

ICS: A Tradition of Excellence
*Congratulations to ICS 8th grader Carter Campbell who has been awarded one of two Ignatian Scholar awards to Jesuit High School for next school year. Please see this transcript from Mr. Steve Matesich, Jesuit High School Director of Admissions:
Carter Campbell, has been selected as one of the two Ignatian Scholar award winners for the Jesuit High School admission class of 2015. Carter was chosen out of a pool of prospective Jesuit freshmen whose scholastic capability, as indicated by their score on the High School Placement Test (HSPT), was in the top 1-2% nationwide. In addition, candidates for an Ignatian Scholarship were evaluated on the basis of character, faith, service, and financial need.
Congratulations, Carter! ICS is so proud of you!

*Congratulations to ICS graduate (Class of 2012) Andrew Vendrone (older sibling of Elise, Class of 2013, and Emilie, ICS 5th grader). Andrew (a junior at Sickles High School) qualified for the Florida High School Athletic Association's State Championships in the 400 m dash. Andrew ran a personal best of 49.7 seconds in the Regional final to qualify. Andrew will compete in the Class 4A race (the state's classification for the largest high schools) as one of only 16 runners. The meet is this Saturday in Jacksonville at the University of North Florida.

Congratulations, Andrew, and good luck! ICS is honored to call you one of its own!

*On Friday, May 22, we will induct our 3rd class of honorees into our ICS Hall of Honors. This year, Mr. and Mrs. Michael and Kate Caballero will be inducted! The Caballero family supported the ICS education of all 10 of their children and now can claim granddaughter Molly (ICS 7th grader), as another member of the Caballero legacy at ICS! We are excited to honor them for this longstanding and exemplary commitment to Incarnation Church and School.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Caballero! We cannot wait to award you. More details about this Hall of Honors celebration will be coming soon!

ICS Family Challenge
Today's ICS Family Challenge quote is from the musical group, Needtobreathe, and their song, Brother. Everybody needs someone to help light the way - be that light for others, especially those closest and most important to you - your family!

Remember that God, in His infinite wisdom, created humans in His image and likeness. When we work together in community with others we participate in the mystery of the Trinity - that God is three persons in one God. God is relational and He desires a relationship with you through your loving relationships with others.

May God bless you and all of our ICS families!

Love always wins! ALWAYS! Alleluia!

ICS Family Challenge
"Love is patent, love is kind.
It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.
It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails."
-1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 8

Today's ICS Family Challenge quote comes from St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians. May the peace and joy of the Resurrection bring you into deeper understanding of the immense, absolute and complete love Jesus Christ has for you and your family! May you come closer to mirroring that divine love for all members of your family each and every day!

Love always wins! ALWAYS! Alleluia!

Did you know that Incarnation Catholic School has an over 50 year history of tradition, academics, faith and service?

Did you know that three ICS 8th graders from the Class of 2015 qualified for the chance to apply for the Ignatian Scholarship to Jesuit High School based on receiving the top scores of all students who took the Jesuit entrance exam?

Did you know that three students from ICS over the course of the past 5 years received the top score on the Academy of the Holy Names and Bishop McLaughlin High School entrance exams and qualified for a scholarship?

Did you know that just under 50% of our faculty members at Incarnation Catholic School have advanced (Masters) degrees?

Did you know that all of our ICS faculty members were trained in CPR last year?

Did you know that ICS offers more interscholastic sports than any other Catholic grade school in the diocese? And did you know that we are the only school in our league that adopts an inclusive approach to fielding teams (no-cuts), where any willing student-athlete is afforded an opportunity to participate in sports?

Did you know that PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Support), our school-wide system of student management, is formative as opposed to punitive in philosophy and that it maintains the dignity of the human person given to all of us by our Heavenly Creator?

Did you know that we want you to be a part of a our AMAZING ICS Family next year? We do and we hope that you will re-register today.

Incarnation Catholic School:
Strong hearts. Strong minds. Strong Catholics. Strong tradition.

ICS Carnival 2015: Spring Fun Fest
Please follow this link for important information regarding ICS Carnival 2015: Spring Fun Fest. You will find the most up to date schedule!

You can also access updates and information about the ICS Spring Fun Fest Carnival through our ICS Facebook page. Updates are happening almost daily!

Please note these important Spring Funfest announcements:

1. School schedule on 4/16, 4/17 and 4/20
Please note that we have a full day of school today, Thursday April 16 and that we have a half day of school tomorrow, Friday April 17.

We do not have school on Monday April 20.

We desire your attendance at the Carnival and we hope that you enjoy all of the food, fellowship and fun that Carnival will offer. We expect, though, that ICS students will be in school on both Thursday and Friday. Friday is only a 1/2 day. Monday is completely off.

Everything you do as parents sends a message to your children. Please help us to convey the message of the importance of school by bringing them on Friday. As an extra incentive, students in attendance on Friday will not only be allowed to dress in Irish Incarnation Spirit Day (ICS shirts, PE shorts / uniform bottoms / jeans, sneakers) attire, they will also receive a free dress day for Thursday April 23!

2. Aftercare
We will offer Aftercare on both Thursday and Friday until the regularly scheduled time (6:00 p.m.). If you should take advantage of this service, though, please note that students will stay with Aftercare until picked up. Students will not attend the Carnival (it doesn't start until 6:00 p.m.) nor will they be allowed to go back and forth from Aftercare to the Carnival if you are volunteering for set-up / cooking on either day.

3. Safe Environment
Please remember that even though Incarnation Catholic School goes to great lengths to maintain the safety and security of students during the school day, the Carnival will not afford this same level of care and concern for our students. Due to the public nature of the event as well as the inability to screen all adults that will be in attendance (even those working), parents / families are responsible for supervising children at all times. Please keep our children safe and be vigilant in being with them!

4. Volunteers
If you are still interested in volunteering, contact the school office. We will definitely need help on Monday to clean-up! Thank you in advance for your help in making Spring Funfest 2015 a huge success!

5. Ride Tickets
Purchasing ride tickets at a discounted price will continue today from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in the foyer of St. Michael Hall. After 1:00 p.m. you will only be able to buy tickets at the event and they will increase in price!

"Rainy Day" Pick-Up Through 4/21
Due to Carnival taking place in the Pavilion, we will continue with "Rainy Day" pick-up procedures until after Carnival (4/21/15). Depending on how much we are able to clean on Monday April 20, we may have to extend "Rainy Day" pick-up through the end of next week (4/24).

We thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding and we apologize for this inconvenience.

Mrs. Brown
Mrs. Jean Brown, our ICS Media Specialist, will be taking a medical leave for what will most likely be the remainder of the school year. We ask for your prayers for her recovery and for her family during this difficult time.

As such, Mrs. Diane Doyle, a veteran ICS teacher who retired after last school year, will be acting as a long-term substitute for the remainder of the school year in Mrs. Brown's absence. We are thankful for Mrs. Doyle's support and willingness to help continue the good work happening in our ICS Media Center.

Thursday Envelope
Going home today are two important forms:

1. Family Supper form (for 4/23) - please return to school by 4/21 if planning to purchase lunch during the Family Supper

2. Family Commitment Hour forms - please take note of the amount of hours that have been logged thus far this school year

If you have any questions about either form, please contact the Main Office.

Home and School Association
Any family / parent who is interested in helping ICS to reorganize Home and School should contact Mr. Zelenka: icsmzele@icstampa.org. We will schedule a meeting for some time after Carnival to help design our new ICS HSA as well as plan for next year’s list of events! Please prayerfully consider volunteering to offer your ideas and insights.

Prayers
We pray for the grandfather of Mrs. Sabella (Jaclyn and Anna, Grades K and 3), Mr. Charles Bell, Jr., who suffered a stroke at the beginning of this week and is not expected to recover. Mr. Bell served in WWII and bravely fought in the Battle of the Bulge and the D-Day invasion as a tank driver and Sergeant with the 87th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday. May the Lord of the Resurrection bring comfort, peace and hope to Mrs. Sabella and her family during this trying time.

We pray for the great grandfather of Hailey Richard (Grade 1), Art Duarte, and her family as they mourn his passing into eternal life. May God offer to Hailey's family His everlasting and complete love, peace and comfort during this difficult time.

We continue to lift up the Ostrander family (Ethan and Devon, Grades 7 and 5) as they mourn the passing of Mr. Ostrander's father, Tom Ostrander. We pray for the Ostranders that God would come and fill their hearts with His hope and peace.

We also continue to pray for the Charlery family (Dylainie and Jaylin, Grades 5 and 1) as they grieve the loss of Mr. Charlery's mother, Helena Willie. May God wrap His loving arms around the Charlery family during this difficult time.

We pray in thanksgiving for all of those candidates in our RCIA program who will be initiated into the Catholic Church this Saturday during the Easter Vigil. May God bless them abundantly as they receive His graces through the Sacraments of Initiation!

We also pray for all of our entire ICS family during this most sacred time of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and especially Easter Sunday! May the peace, joy and hope of the resurrection bring you and your families into deeper relationship with Jesus!

Have a prayer request? Send it to: icsmzele@icstampa.org. Prayers will run for two weeks unless otherwise specified.

Thank You
Thank you to the families who made the decision to send their students to school today, Holy Thursday, to participate in a day of prayer, service and reflection. Your commitment to Catholic education is admirable. Please know how much we appreciate your partnership in forming your students in the Catholic faith as disciples of Jesus Christ!

Students in attendance today were afforded the opportunity to walk with Jesus during Holy Week, starting with Palm Sunday, joining Jesus and His disciples at the Last Supper, and then journeying with Him through His Passion and death.

Students learned about the historical significance of the palm branches, they grew in understanding about the institution of the Mass during the Last Supper, and had a chance to participate in a dramatic reading of the Passion.

It was a day of blessing. Thank you once again to the families and students in attendance.

Thank you as well to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His sacrificial love upon the Holy Cross. May we, as your disciples, come closer and closer to imitate fully this complete and beautiful love for others.

ICS Family Challenge

Today's ICS Family Challenge quote comes from St. John Paul II. Continue to give yourselves to your family in sacrificial service and in sacrificial love. When we do this, we mirror God's divine love, and we model the type of love we were meant to share with our children!

Everything we do as adults - parents, teachers, principals - sends a message. Let us pray for the strength of heart to make sure this message is reflective of God's love!

Box Tops for Education
The final collection of the school year ends on May 27. Many common items have Box Tops. Please submit to the Main Office.
