Prayers
We pray for our ICS Class of 2016! May God be with our ICS graduates as they move from ICS to high school!

We continue to pray for Coach Garofolo and his wife for continued good health in the pregnancy of their second child! May labor and birth be blessed as well!

We pray for the continued recovery of Flavio da Silva, Mickaella Marcal's (Gr. 2) father.

We pray for our ICS community. May the summer be filled with rest, relaxation, rejuvenation and fun! May it also be safe from harm and illness and may Mother Mary protect us from any hurricanes and/or tropical storms.

We pray for the ICS faculty and staff who will be leaving ICS next year: Mrs. Gonzalez, Ms. Whitaker, Mrs. Hall, Ms. Eisenbacher and Ms. Roy. We pray in thanksgiving for their over 35 years of collective service to ICS!

Hope Will Rise
I will always hope in you and add to all your praise.
-Psalm 71:14

As we move onto a new theme for next school year (see below), may we also allow to Hope to Rise in our hearts, homes and world! Trust in the Lord and His promise of the Resurrection! He holds the whole world, He can hold this moment, or any moment, too.

Hope Will Rise today, tomorrow and always!

ICS Academics
Prevent the summer slide (for more on what the summer slide is, click here or read below: http://education.jhu.edu/PD/newhorizons/Journals/spring2010/why-summer-learning/)

·     100% of students experience summer learning loss if they don’t engage in educational activities over the summer.

·     25% of academic learning is lost by children during summer vacation – U.S. Dept. of Education.

·     4-6 weeks is the time it takes teachers to re-teach material that students have forgotten over the summer.

·     2.6 months is the average learning loss per student in math and 2 months is the average in spelling.

·     2/3 of the achievement gap between ninth graders can be explained by summer learning loss during elementary school years.

·     3 years out of the first 5 years of school is the cumulative impact of summer learning loss.

ICS students should engage in summer reading activities over the summer. Follow this link to access this material: http://incarnationcatholicschool.blogspot.com/p/2016-summer-reading.html

You can also access it under the "Pages" tab to the right (titled "2016 ICS Summer Reading).

If you have any questions, please be sure to contact the Front Office: (813) 884-4502.

ICS Faith
God desires to tell you who you are. Seek after Him. Find Him in Sacred Scripture, in the Sacraments, and in each other. Open your heart to Him and discover who you are.

ICS Digital Media
Check out these stats on device usage:

Hit close to home? For more about combatting our addiction to our devices check out this article: http://ricepsychology.com/2016/06/glued-screen-finding-balance-todays-digital-age/

Technology can serve great purposes in making us more productive, accessing information and staying connected. Just be sure, especially over the summer, to keep it in proper perspective! Similarly, know that we are the prototype for what our children will become - be the change we hope to see! It's not easy, but it is worth it.

Supplemental Iowa Assessment Information
As we have the past two years, we have longitudinal Iowa Assessment data on students in Grades 3 - 8. If you would like this data prior to next school year, please contact the Front Office, we would be happy to get it to you or arrange a day and time for you to pick it up.

Not sure what it would entail? Check out this video to decide if you would like this information now (otherwise it will be disseminated and discussed during conferences in the 2016 - 17 school year):

2015 - 16 ICS Yearbook
Yearbooks are still available in the School Office. The cost is $35; make checks payable to Incarnation Catholic School.

Re-registration to ICS
We need your commitment to ICS so that we can adequately plan for next school year. Please re-register today. Spaces in many of our grades are filling up fast. Don't delay; commit today!

2016 - 17 ICS Theme
And the theme for next school year is...

For more details on how the ICS Class of 2017 arrived at this inspirational message, follow this link: https://prezi.com/xu6grrw8trzz/2016-2017/

2016 - 17 Uniforms
We will be once again partnering with Sunshine-Wear for uniforms for next school year. Their Tampa location has closed. However, they have moved to on-line sales (similar to Amazon) and are committed to meeting our needs as a school.

For the Sunshine-Wear website, go here: https://sunshine-wear.com

In addition to their on-line sales, they will be scheduling an on-location store where they will come to ICS with product and sell uniforms in person. We are still in the process of determining the dates and times of this on-location store. We will send an instant alert, post on Facebook (be sure to Like us!) and on our ICS website. Be sure to stay tuned!

Some additions for next school year:

1. Green Mass Day Shirt - As a way to introduce our new school logo into our uniform, all students (K - Grade 8) will be permitted to purchase and wear a "Green" uniform shirt on Wednesdays (Mass days) next year. This Green shirt is optional and is permitted only on Mass days! Stay tuned for pictures of this new shirt!

2. TOMS Shoes - In conjunction with our 2016 - 17 theme, "Ftprint", students will be permitted to purchase and wear shoes from TOMS: http://www.toms.com. As a way to leave a "Footprint" on our world through our ICS uniform, shoes purchased for ICS can provide a comparable pair to someone who would otherwise go without footwear. Purchasing school shoes from this site is optional. If you decide to utilize this company, just be sure to stay within our school policy:

-Grades K - 5:
  • Grades K–2: Black tie or Velcro shoes
  • Grades 3–5: Black tie shoes

    -Grades 6 - 8:
    • Tan, brown, or black shoes, all of the material must be of a consistent color; soles must be dark, the top of the shoe should not go above the ankle

More specific examples of approved versions of this style of shoe will be posted soon.

      ICS Academics
The "summer slide" is the loss in academic gains that occurs in students who do not participate in engaging activities over the summer (travel, summer camps / programs, reading, visiting museums, spending time with family, etc.). Please be sure to check with your student for a summer reading project that ICS will sponsor in conjunction with Spirit FM (90.5 on your radio dial).

For more ideas on combatting the summer slide, click here: http://summerlearningdaymap.org/index.php

      ICS Faith
The Eucharist can transform you! Behold the awesome power of Jesus Christ! Be sure to continue to attend Mass over the summer - don't let the "summer slide" affect your spiritual life or the spiritual health of your kids! You will be glad (and transformed) that you did!

      ICS Digital Media
Allow your kid's tech usage over the summer to combat the "summer slide". Check out this site for a great compilation of educational apps: http://www.bestappsforkids.com/category/apps-for-education/
