PRAYER INTENTIONS
Please join ICS in praying for the Allegra family (Rachel, Grade 7) as they mourn the passing of Rachel's grandfather, "Papa Joe", into eternal life. May God come offer comfort, peace and strength to the Allegra family during this difficult time.

We also pray for the family of 4th grader Matthew Tran as they grieve the loss of Matthew's grandmother last Wednesday. We pray that the Tran family be aided by God's loving embrace at this time.

The ICS community continues to pray for the people of the Philippines as they recover from the aftereffects of Typhoon Haiyan. May God grant the people of the Philippines relief and support.

We hold Miss Connie Sikkema from Messiah Migrant Ministries in our thoughts and prayers as she battles hydrocephalus. May God offer Miss Connie health, courage and peace to fight this serious condition.

Have a prayer intention? Send it to icsmzele@icstampa.org. Prayer requests will run for two weeks unless specified otherwise.

SANTA'S BREAKFAST

On Saturday December 7, ICS will host its annual Santa's Breakfast this Saturday from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. in St. Michael Hall. Escape the crowds and visit Santa at ICS! Also, fill up on a tasty pancake breakfast! Christmas arts, crafts and music are also a part of the fun! We hope to see you there. Cost is $6.00 per ticket.

If you are interested in helping to volunteer for the event, visit either SignUpGenius or contact Mrs. Dorine Capitano: ladyzz99@gmail.com. Also, anyone interested in donating supplies should contact the Main Office. Commitment hours can be fulfilled through donations (food, juice, milk, eggs, paper products, etc.).

Please note that we are still in need of chocolate milk, butter and syrup. Contact either Mrs. Capitano or the Main Office if you can help.

As an extra incentive, students will earn one Irish Cup point for their Priory if they attend Saturday's Santa's Breakfast! Help earn points for your Priory. Go H! Go O! Go M! Go E!

We hope to see you there as we spread a little Christmas cheer!

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP
Upcoming Food and Fellowship events include Wednesday December 11 at McDonalds and Thursday December 19 at Chick-fil-A. Both of these restaurants are located just minutes from ICS. Save the date and join us for Food and Fellowship.

Our next Food & Fellowship is at McDonalds - 7909 West Hillsborough Ave (across the street from ICS School) on Wednesday, December 11th between 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.!  For every flyer presented, McDonalds will donate 20% of the sales to ICS (Dine-in Only).  McDonalds is offering a special incentive to the class with highest sales. The class with the largest turnout will have a FREE Happy Meal (Primary and Elementary Grades) or All-American Meal lunch (Middle School Grades) scheduled to be delivered to their classroom!  Plus, McDonalds will also have fun games and face painting for the kids.  You will receive your flyer in this Thursday's packet.  Thank you in advance for your support!

The event on the 19th of December (a Thursday evening) at Chick-fil-A will also involve a Christmas concert. Come out to catch the spirit, wonder, awe and excitement of Advent and prepare for the joy of Christmas!

Finally, mark your calendars for our first FAF events of 2014 - January 14 and 15 at Tokyo Restaurant (7911 W. Hillsborough Ave.)

CELEBRATING SUCCESSES

ICS recognizes 1991 alumnae, Michèle Kathleen Hyde. Michèle had this to say about her Incarnation education, "Incarnation Catholic School taught me the value of service and instilled in me a lifelong sense of civic duty."
Michèle graduated 4th in her class at the Academy of the Holy Names High School and was awarded a scholarship to Emory University where she received her bachelor’s degree in 1999. Upon graduation, she served the people of Cameroon, West Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching English language and HIV/AIDS awareness.

She then went on to serve the people of New York state as a Parent Representative for the Committee for Preschool Special Education. Michèle currently works in the Orlando community as a Cub Scout leader, PTO Board member and member of the School Advisory Council. She is also a proud mother of three boys, ages 9, 7 and 1.

Congratulations, Michèle! We are proud to call you one of ICS's own!

Do you know of a current ICS student or an ICS alumnus who has found success in the areas of academics, athletics, leadership, service or ministry that should be featured in our Newsletter? If so, please help us to recognize the sons and daughters of Incarnation Catholic School by sending notification to Mr. Zelenka: icsmzele@icstampa.org. GO IRISH!

ADVENT INITIATIVES

As a way to help prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus this year on the Feast of the Incarnation (Christmas), the student body is engaging in an Advent Adventure, focusing on 4 ideas. Check out this video link from Advent Conspiracy for the philosophy behind this movement.
It is in this spirit of Spending Less, Giving More, Loving All and Worshipping Fully that we will participate in the following efforts this Advent:

-SPEND LESS / GIVE MORE
As a way to once again partner with Messiah Migrant Ministries, ICS is holding a clothing and toy drive. Please bring in any new or gently used clothing item or toy. As a way to make room for all that we will receive on the Feast of the Incarnation, cleaning out those toys no longer played with (or maybe hardly played with at all) and those clothes that no longer fit is a great way to prepare for Christmas. Buying new items, especially in place of gift for ourselves, is also a great way to help those in need!

Donations will be accepted up until Monday December 16. Items should be brought to either HR's or St. Michael Hall at the beginning of the day.

-LOVE ALL
Despite the lack of coverage in the news media, the people of the Philippines are still in dire need of help and assistance. As a way to fly to the assistance of the Philippines, ICS will have a $1.00 Dress Day on Thursday December 19 to benefit relief efforts in that country. Students will be permitted to wear sneakers, jeans / PE shorts / uniform bottoms, with a red / white / blue or yellow shirt (the colors of the flag of the Philippines).

-WORSHIP FULLY
Grades 3 - 5 received the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday; Grades 6 - 8 will receive it today. The school will engage in Celebrations of the Eucharist twice more before Christmas. We encourage you to attend Church on the Feast of the Incarnation and to worship while there with full, conscious and active participation. Emmanuel! The Lord has come!

SKATING PARTY / POLAR EXPRESS EXPERIENCE

Details about our Skating Party at Skate World will be sent home next week. This event is on Friday 12/20 and will be held at Skate World (7512 Paula Dr., Tampa, FL 33615) from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Grades 3 - 8 are permitted to attend. Drop-off and pick-up will be at Skate World.

On the same day (12/20), Grades PreK - 2 are invited to take part in our Inaugural Polar Express Experience! Please sign up by next Friday December 13 if you would like your child to take a ride to the North Polar upon the ICS Polar Express! ALL ABROAD!

LIVE NATIVITY

A note from Mrs. Carrier and Mrs. Bujak about our upcoming Live Nativity events:

"ICS families, please consider donating baked goods (homemade or store bought) for the Live Nativity Fundraiser. Drop them off to school on Friday December 13 and/or Friday December 20. Be sure to include your name and your child(ren)'s grade(s) so that you can receive commitment hours for your efforts.

In the home folders today you will see a green flyer for this fundraiser. Students are asked to write their name, and priory on the back of the flyer. If students bring this flyer to the performance and drop it off in the ICS bin that will be located at the entrance booth, they will receive a point for their priory.

Thank you so much for your help and support with this initiative."
In keeping with our tradition, we at Incarnation Catholic School:
Inspire life-long learning,
Challenge each individual to be a disciple of Christ, and
Strive to live our Catholic faith through service to each other and the community.
