Prayers
We pray for Leilani Lopez (Gr. 1) and her family as they mourn the loss of Leilani's grandmother, Vivian Perez-Cardenas. May God wrap Leilani and her family in His loving arms. We pray that Jesus ushers in His strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time.

We continue to pray for the Newcom family as they mourn the loss of Mr. Newcom's grandfather (Christopher and Lizzie's great-grandfather). May God surround the Newcom family during this difficult time and usher in His love, peace and strength.

We also continue to pray for the aunt of Allison Cuomo (Gr. 4). Allison's Aunt Nanci is recovering slowly from her third surgery to remove tongue cancer. May the doctors caring for Allison's aunt be led and guided by the Holy Spirit and may Nanci experience His healing hand. We lift up Allison, her Aunt Nanci and their entire family during this difficult time.

We pray for all of those who will be fully initiated into the Church during this upcoming Easter. May God bless these RCIA candidates during these final weeks of preparation.

We pray for the continued recovery of Flavio da Silva, Mickaella Marcal's (Gr. 2) father.

We pray for our 8th Graders, the ICS Class of 2016. May God continue to bless them and may He lead them and guide them throughout the remainder of their time at ICS and may He continue with them on their journeys to high school and beyond!

We pray for our 2nd graders and all of our ICS students who are preparing for their First Holy Communion. May God continue to lead and guide them to His Table!

Have a prayer request? Send it to icsmzele@icstampa.org.

Hope Will Rise
While there's HOPE in this heart,
I will praise you, Lord.
The joy of the Lord is my strength.
In the darkness I'll dance.
In the shadows I'll sing.
The joy of the Lord is my strength.
-Rend Collective, The Joy of the Lord

Hope Will Rise.

ICS Academics
This is Part 4 in our series on Standards Based Grading. We hope that this information has been helpful as it pertains to understanding the instructional approaches of our AMAZING ICS teachers!

How is SBG different from traditional grading? Let us count the ways! See below for some initial thoughts on the question:

We will continue to unpack Standards Based Grading over the next two weeks. In the meantime, if you would like more information or if you have a specific question, please contact Mrs. Gonzalez, a member of our Diocesan Grading Policy Committee: gonzalezl@icstampa.org.

ICS Faith
Please know of our prayers and support for you and your families during this holy season of Lent. We hope that your respective journeys have provided the opportunity for Jesus's transformative power to work in your life.

As we continue to discuss the "5 Stones" as an ICS community, we encourage families to join along with us. Yesterday we covered the importance of reading Sacred Scripture (the Bible!). God's Word is powerful and when we read it, reflect upon it, and incorporate it into our prayer it is a channel of His grace.

Consider reading the Gospel for this upcoming Sunday as a family before you go to Mass on Sunday. Pray that God would use this intentional time to study His Word to make your heart fertile soil for His messages to grow and blossom. This initial read will also help increase your comprehension - good readers read text more than once to fully understand and make sense of it! Reading the Scripture before hearing it proclaimed at Mass will allow you to retain more of it!

For this Sunday's Mass readings, go to this link: http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/031316-fifth-sunday-lent.cfm

ICS Digital Media
Continue to fight to take back the control that technology has over you and your family. Consider adopting this simple mantra to govern your on-line habits: in service of the Gospel. If what you're watching, reading, seeing, saying or doing on-line is not "in service of the Gospel" consider removing it from your tech time. If it's not making you better, if it's not making your life easier, if it's not helping to you connect, engage, help, or create , if it's not done in service of the Gospel consider the ways in which your time could be better spent!

Each of our last three Popes have embraced technology and specifically social media. But, each one has used technology "in service of the Gospel"!

Iowa Assessment
We have one more day of standardized testing in grades 2 - 8! Students have demonstrated an intense focus thus far! We are so proud of their determination. We can do hard things!

Remember our tips:
1. Get plenty of rest and get to school on time!
2. Eat a healthy breakfast.
3. Stay hydrated.
4. Stay positive.
5. Engage in some sort of light exercise / activity.

Please continue to encourage your child(ren) to give their best effort!

If you have any questions about Iowa Assessments, please contact either your child's Homeroom teacher or Mrs. Gonzalez: gonzalezl@icstampa.org or Mr. Woodward: woodwardb@icstampa.org

Incarnation Carnival Sweepstakes Drawing
Information regarding our Incarnation Carnival Sweepstakes is here! Formerly known as the Payday Sweepstakes Raffle, this - along with our Auction - is one of two opportunities for families to meet their $150 fundraising commitment to the school.

All school families will receive 15 tickets, priced at $10 each. Any family who was not able to attend Auction is expected to buy / sell all 15 tickets. If a family was only able to purchase one Auction ticket, 8 raffle tickets must be bought / sold. If a family attended Auction with two tickets, we would ask for your support in this effort, but it is not required.

Of course, all families are encouraged to sell / buy even more than 15 tickets! Here are a few things to remember:

1. Your family does not need to buy any of the tickets. Sell them to your extended family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers!

2. You have the opportunity to get a great return on your investment. Each ticket will have the chance at winning one of 19 prizes. Winning tickets are re-entered into the drawing!

3. The prizes will occur as follows:
-Mondays - Thursdays = $100
-Fridays = $250
-3rd Prize (drawn on 4/15) = $500
-2nd Prize (drawn on 4/16) = $1,000
-Grand Prize (drawn on 4/17) = $4,000

4. The total prize money awarded will be: $7,750!

5. Tickets are going home today! Our first pull is next Thursday March 17! In addition to our Thursday $100 prize, any family who sells all 15 of their tickets will be entered into a $300 bonus drawing!

6. Thank you to the Saavedra family and MLI Marketing Solutions for their generous donation of the tickets and informational flyers for the drawing! We greatly appreciate this support!

Grit Training
Over the past 3 weeks we have initiated a new Academic Intervention Support Program for students in grades 5 – 8. This Academic Intervention Support Program takes place during lunch and recess. As we have progressed with this new program, we noticed that it conflicts with Grit Training, which also takes place during lunch and recess.

Due to the time conflict and the importance of both programs, we will move Grit Training to two days a week after school from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.  The days Grit Training will take place will be determined for the upcoming week based upon our school academic and athletic calendars.  Parents of a student that will be required to attend Grit Training be notified by either phone or email regarding further details of Grit Training.

Making this change in the schedule will allow for both programs to have an equal impact on our students' academic and behavioral growth.

If you would have any questions about the Academic Intervention Support Program or Grit Training please feel free to contact Mr. Woodward at woodward@icstampa.org

Thank you for you support of these programs!

2016 - 17 ICS Registration
Tuition rates and registration paperwork for the 2016 - 17 school year are included in today's Thursday packet. Re-registration will last from March 11 - 24. We hope you will continue to partner with us at Incarnation Catholic School next school year and beyond.

Please note that due to changes in the Church's accounting office, the amount of your 2015 offertory to Incarnation Catholic Church to qualify for the in-parish tuition rate may not reflect your actual giving. If you feel that the amount listed on your registration paperwork is in error, please contact Ms. Rae Stabile in the Church Office: (813) 885-7861. In advance we apologize for any undue frustration this may cause and we will do all that we can to ensure your family is appropriately categorized based on your donations to the Church.

Incredible things are in store for ICS next year. Incredible.

Re-register tomorrow!

We are ICS and we hope you will be, too!
