Prayers
We pray for the family of Andrea and Luisana Pereira (Grades 3 and 5) as they mourn the loss of the girls' grandmother, Maria Lourdes Yuniz. May God be with Pereira family and walk with them through this time of grief and sadness.

We continue to pray for Leilani Lopez (Gr. 1) and her family as they mourn the loss of Leilani's grandmother, Vivian Perez-Cardenas. May God wrap Leilani and her family in His loving arms. We pray that Jesus ushers in His strength, comfort and peace during this difficult time.

We pray for all of those who will be fully initiated into the Church during this upcoming Easter. May God bless these RCIA candidates during these final weeks of preparation.

We pray for the continued recovery of Flavio da Silva, Mickaella Marcal's (Gr. 2) father.

We pray for next month's Incarnation Carnival. May the weather be pleasant, the fun be safe and may all that happens honor and glorify our Heavenly Father!

Have a prayer request? Send it to icsmzele@icstampa.org.

ICS Academics
This is Part 5 in our series on Standards Based Grading. Next week we will conclude this series with a review the main components.

What are the advantages of standards-based grading? Think of it in this way: when you go to the doctor, imagine the difference between your physician diagnosing you with a "sickness" as compared to the diagnosis including the specificity of "high blood pressure which is causing shortness of breath and fatigue". In the first case (sickness) you can do very little to make changes. In the second (high blood pressure) you can take specific action steps to correct its root cause. The first example is similar to traditional grading; the second is a great way to understand SBG.

For more advantages, see below:

If you would like more information or if you have a specific question about this shift in pedagogy, please contact Mrs. Gonzalez, a member of our Diocesan Grading Policy Committee: gonzalezl@icstampa.org.

ICS Faith
Check out this article about rallying into Holy Week next week: http://bulldogcatholic.org/rally-into-holy-week/

From the post:
We give up things for Lent for a number of reasons:
To deny ourselves pleasures, which leads to suffering to be offered up and development of self-control, which leads to freedom to choose God;
to remove bad habits that are holding us back from God and the person that we’re supposed to be;
to fill that space with things that bring us closer to Christ.
It's not too late to "get fierce" about your commitment to growing closer to Christ in the final days of Lent. Receive Holy Communion at Mass. Visit a confessional for Reconciliation. Read Scripture  (http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/032016.cfm). Perform works of mercy. Pray.

Put on your rally caps.

Easter Sunday is coming...http://icscatholicedu.blogspot.com/2016/03/stones.html

ICS Digital Media
Did you know that the average young woman, ages 16 - 25, spends over 5 hours per week taking selfies! In a survey conducted by a beauty supply company polling over 2,000 women between the ages listed above, young women spend about 48 minutes per day taking pictures of themselves with phones / devices. The main reason for using that much time of their days to capture pictures of themselves: to attract the attention of boys / men.

In a world dominated by selfishness, recognize that your influence on your children is immense! Put down your phones and pick up a conversation, memory and/or connection with others that are in front of you in real life, not on your screens!

All ICS Dads are called to our Carnival Set-up this weekend! We are hoping to recharge our ICS Dads Club and we will use the 2016 Carnival as a springboard for this important group. Dads, our students need your support and involvement! Please join us for Carnival Set-up this weekend. We hope to see you there.

Carnival Donation Requests:
The heat from the trailers that store our Carnival equipment destroyed our refrigerators.  We need at least 5 working refrigerators. If you have a working refrigerator that you are willing and able to donate to the Carnival we would greatly appreciate your donation!  Email Rob Rogers at robert.rogers@progressivewaste.com if you are able to help with this request!

Incarnation Carnival Sweepstakes Drawing
Our Incarnation Carnival Sweepstakes Drawing begins today! Any family who sells their allotment of tickets by today will be entered into a bonus drawing of $300! If you've sold all of your tickets there is still time to get them in before the pull at the end of the day! Don't delay!

All school families have received 15 tickets, priced at $10 each. Any family who was not able to attend Auction is expected to buy / sell all 15 tickets. If a family was only able to purchase one Auction ticket, 8 raffle tickets must be bought / sold. If a family attended Auction with two tickets, we would ask for your support in this effort, but it is not required.

Of course, all families are encouraged to sell / buy even more than 15 tickets! If you need more tickets, please contact the Front Office!

Here are a few things to remember:

1. Your family does not need to buy any of the tickets. Sell them to your extended family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers!

2. You have the opportunity to get a great return on your investment. Each ticket will have the chance at winning one of 19 prizes. Winning tickets are re-entered into the drawing!

3. The prizes will occur as follows:
-Mondays - Thursdays = $100
-Fridays = $250
-3rd Prize (drawn on 4/15) = $500
-2nd Prize (drawn on 4/16) = $1,000
-Grand Prize (drawn on 4/17) = $4,000

4. The total prize money awarded will be: $7,750!

5. Thank you once again to the Saavedra family and MLI Marketing Solutions for their generous donation of the tickets and informational flyers for the drawing! We greatly appreciate this support!

Carnival Talent Show
ICS students in grades 1 - 8 have the opportunity to participate in our Carnival Talent Show! The Carnival Talent Show is scheduled for Sunday April 17 between 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Auditions for participating in the 4/17 Carnival Talent Show will take place on Monday March 21 and Tuesday March 22 during lunch and recess periods.

Please email Mrs. Carrier: carrierr@icstampa.org if your son/daughter plans to audition.

Students should have a portion of their performance ready for the audition.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Mrs. Carrier or Ms. Maniscalco!

Carnival Pick-up
Beginning next week, Monday March 21 we will commence "Rainy Day Pick-up". Due to the Carnival booth construction that will take place over the weekend, the Pavilion will be filled with Carnival supplies and we will not be able to use it for our Pick-up routine. As such, the easiest Plan B is to have "Rainy Day Pick-up" even though the weather won't require it. It will continue from tomorrow through the week after Carnival.

Thank you in advance for your patience and flexibility!
