Prayers
We lift the following intentions up as a School Family:

Mr. Earl Albert, the father of Mrs. Harris (former ICS teacher), who passed into eternal life last week. May God be with Mr. Albert, Mrs. Harris and their family during this difficult time.

We pray for the repose of the soul of Carson Phillipp's uncle who passed into eternal life. May God be with the Phillipp family and give them comfort, strength and peace.

We continue to pray for Ms. Kelly Decker, an ICS alum, who is recovering from a second surgery, and Mr. Mario Mora, Gustavo Chaviel's step-father, who continues to undergo chemotherapy. May God speed the recovery of these two members of our ICS community.

We pray for an end to all domestic violence.

We pray for a cure for cancer and all incurable diseases.

We pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Have a prayer request? Send it to: icsmzele@icstampa.org. Prayers will run for two weeks unless otherwise specified.

Thank You
Thank you to all who participated in our annual St. Francis of Assisi Pet Food Drive! We appreciate your help and assistance and care for God's creation!

ICS Athletics
Over 50 ICS students participated in the Irish Athletic Bowling and Billiards events held this past week. Thanks to the many students who came out, to their parents who made transportation to the event possible, and to Coach Garofolo for his time and effort to organize and sponsor these events.
Girls' basketball practices have begun and games begin later this month! GO Irish!

For details about the Irish Athletics Program, please visit Coach Garofolo's Coach's Corner website.

ICS Auction
The 17th Annual Dinner, Dance and Auction is Saturday November 8 - Saturday Night Fever! Tickets will be delivered soon and are $75.00 each! We hope to see you there!

This is the school's largest fundraiser - all families are expected to help support this effort that helps to support the many efforts of our school. Please prayerfully consider offering your time, talent, treasure and prayers to this important event!

All families are expected to help raise at least $150 for the school through the Auction and/or the Payday Sweepstakes Raffle (which will run in March this school year).

Furthermore, of your 20 commitment hours to the school, at least 5 hours must happen at either the Auction or the Carnival. For details about your family's commitment to the school, visit our Student-Family Handbook. Donations of goods or services can fulfill commitment hours (these do not have to be donated by you, just solicited and secured by you). Every $25.00 donated fulfills one commitment hour.

If you have any questions about the ICS Dinner, Dance and Auction please contact the Main Office: 813.884.4502. Similarly, if you have questions about fundraising or commitment hour requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us.

ICS Family Challenge

In solidarity with the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops on the Family, ICS Families are encouraged to take the ICS Family Challenge: Pray, Play and Eat together regularly. When you do and you see God working in your family, send your stories, witness, and words to icsmzele@icstampa.org

Excerpts from the Synod on the Family:
The family is the school of humanity, because it is the school of love in the life and development of a person (cf. Gaudium et Spes 52: Family: “School of Humanity”) and because of the relationship which marriage requires and establishes between spouses and between parents and children (cf. Gaudium et Spes 49;Familiaris consortio, 11).
The family is a school of social relations, because it helps a person develop his social skills and builds society (cf. Familiaris consortio 15, 37). In a similar manner, the family is the womb of the Church’s life, which teaches us to live in communion with the Church and to be active participants in it (cf. Familiaris consortio 48, 50).
Finally, the family is also the school of holiness, in which the path towards sanctification of married couples and children is undertaken and sustained (cf. Gaudium et spes 48; Familiaris consortio 56, 59). For these reasons, the Church proclaims the value and beauty of the family. In this way, the Church renders crucial service to a world which asks, almost begs, to be enlightened by hope.
GO: Love.

HALLOWEEN CELEBRATION
Students should adhere to the following guidelines for our Halloween Celebration on Friday October 31.

*Storybook Character Costumes:
-Pre - K to Grade 5

-Any easily identifiable character from literature: Cinderella, Aladdin, Harry Potter, Fancy Nancy, Clifford, etc. No blood, weapons, etc. The purpose of our dress is to promote school spirit, promote a love of reading and have fun. It is not to scare or sicken. Thank you for maintaining this rationale for this celebration.

*Any student not participating in Storybook Character Costume Day should wear their regulation school uniform.

*Crazy Hair Day
-Grades 6 - 8

-Horrible hair -- different size ponytails, braids, curls, spikes, messy, wigs, rubber bands, colors, etc. ALL HAIRDOS MUST BE DONE AT HOME.

-Students in grades 6 - 8 are permitted to wear Spirit Shirts, jeans and sneakers. School uniform is the alternative.

Sabor Latino
On Saturday, October 25, 2014, Incarnation Parish will be hosting an event called “Sabor Latino” (Latin Flavor), in St. Michael Hall. The Parish has asked for participation from our schoolchildren. This participation is optional. However, we would like to have as many students in Grades 1 - 3 there as possible. The students will be saying a prayer and singing a song in Spanish.
  • Grade 1: Angel de la Guarda/La Araña Pequeñita
  • Grade 2: Ave Maria/Duermete (The Angels' Lullaby)
  • Grade 3: Ave Maria/Mi Cuerpo Hace Musica
  • Students who attend will receive a red ticket and a pass for a Free Dress Day on Monday, October 27th. If you would like for your child to participate, please fill out the form given to your child, and return it to Mrs. Casanas by Monday, October 20, 2014. Students are asked to come in their school uniform and will need to be at ICS and meet at the back lobby of St. Michael's Hall at 6:30 p.m. They will perform at 7:00 and are then free to go. Of course, you are also invited to stay and attend the event. Food Tickets are $10.00, and there are many cultural dishes from which to choose! Please contact Sra. Casanas with questions: icsmcasa@icstampa.org

Drop-Off
Unfortunately, our ICS Drop-Off procedure has deteriorated into an unsafe zone for many of our ICS students and families. If you desire to park and walk your child(ren) into school, you must do so before 7:20 a.m. After 7:20 a.m. all cars must use the Drop-Off loop. Parking in the Visitor lot and walking your child(ren) across both lanes of our Drop-Off loop is dangerous and delaying. Parking in that lot and allowing your child(ren) to walk unaccompanied is even more dangerous and equally delaying. While cars are free to enter the Church parking lot through Gateway Drive, students should not be dropped off under the Church portico or behind the school (behind the Media Center).

Mornings are stressful times for all drivers and families. Schools have late bells, places of employment have start times, errands need to be accomplished.

Nothing is more important, though, than the safety of all of our children. Nothing

Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.
