Prayers
We pray for the grandfather of IanAlejandro Deliz (Gr. 3). May God grant IanAlejandro's grandfather strength to battle his many health issues and may God bring comfort to the entire family.

We pray for Ethan and Devon Ostrander's (Gr. 8 and 6) great-grandmother who is in rehabilitation. We also pray for the Ostrander family as they prepare to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ostrander's nephew, Kai Schulte, who passed into eternal life at the end of April. May God be with the Ostrander family during this difficult period.

We pray for Jacob Clark's (Gr. 3) aunt, who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. May God send His Holy Spirit and offering healing and strength to Jacob's aunt and their entire family.

We continue to pray for Mrs. Maria Owens and 8th grader Maria Paula as they mourn the loss of Mrs. Owens' father. May God surround the Owens family with His mantle of love, strength and peace during this difficult time. We also lift up Mrs. Owen's aunt who also passed away last week. May God be with the Owens family at this time.

We continue to lift up Mary Grace Torralba, a family friend of the Altamiranos (Avery, Gr. 7) who is losing her battle with cancer. May the Holy Spirit intercede on Mary's behalf and bring comfort and peace to Mary and her family and friends.

We continue to pray in thanksgiving for the gift of Katie Rose Gonzalez, daughter of Mrs. Gonzalez!

We continue to pray for Coach Garofolo and his wife for continued good health in the pregnancy of their second child!

We pray for our 8th graders who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation later this month. May God continue to lead and guide them on the final stages of their journey of faith and may these students experience Jesus's graces in new and transforming ways through this Sacrament of Initiation!

We pray for the continued recovery of Flavio da Silva, Mickaella Marcal's (Gr. 2) father.

Have a prayer request? Send it to icsmzele@icstampa.org

Hope Will Rise
Over the past few weeks, we have focused on the graces received through the Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion. Grace is Christ's life inside of us and the Sacraments are like superhighways for us to receive it!

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church;
Grace is favor, the free and undeserved help that God gives us to respond to his call to become children of God, adoptive sons, partakers of the divine nature and of eternal life (#1996).
Grace wins! Hope Will Rise!

ICS Academics
Families with students in grades 2 - 8 will receive Iowa Assessment scores today in the Thursday packet. To help you with interpreting the scores, consider checking out this post: http://incarnationcsca.blogspot.com/2014/06/standardized-testing-video-series.html

Last week we covered the most commonly used scoring mechanism, National Percentile Ranking. Another key score is the National Stanine:
A National Stanine is similar to NPR in that it compares the performance of your child against the performance of all of the other students who took the same test at the same time. Instead of using a range of 1 - 99, though, the National Stanine is ranged from 1 - 9 and can help you to further interpret your child's NPR. National Stanine's from 1 - 3 indicate performance that is below average, 4 -6 is average, and 7 - 9 is above average.
We've also created a 4-part Video Interpretation Series to help you! Check it out: http://incarnationcsca.blogspot.com/2014/06/standardized-testing-video-series.html

ICS Faith
ICS teachers and students have focused on fighting the right battles over the course of this past week. In this video from Fr. Mike Schmitz, Fr. Mike puts the battle portrayed in the movie Batman v. Superman in the context of our faith.

Let's be sure to fight only the battles that are truly worth fighting! As St. Paul writes,
Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with the principalities, with the power, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens. Therefore, put on the armor of God, that you may be able to resist on the evil day and, having done everything, to hold your ground (Ephesians 6:10-13).

ICS Digital Media
Check out this prayer for our participation in Social Media:

May all that we do online and everywhere bring glory to Jesus's Holy Name and may it always be done in service to His Gospel!

Re-registration to ICS
Mrs. Moody continues to register new families to ICS for next school year. In this way, we are well ahead of where we have historically been with new registrations at this point in the school year. However, we need you to re-register as soon as you can so that you won't miss out on a spot next year!

There is a buzz about the good work being done by teachers, students and families at ICS. We hope that you feel it and that you will continue to partner with us in Catholic education next year and beyond! Re-register today!

Questions? Contact Mrs. Moody: icsmmood@icstampa.org or (813) 884-4502.

3rd Annual Irish Cup Championship
Tomorrow, Friday May 13 students will compete with their Households and Priories in the 3rd Annual Irish Cup Championship. A year-long competition, the Race for the Irish Cup culminates with this reimagined version of field day in which students will work together in a variety of physical and mental challenges.

Check out our standings heading into the Championship:

Last year, through the generosity of donors, ICS was able to purchase 4 Jump Sumo and 4 Ollie drones to use as the STEM components of the academic challenges that have since become a part of our Coding and Robotics clubs. Similarly, we were able to provide all members of the school community a Priory t-shirt to promote school spirit and make the competition even more exciting!

We have BIG plans for this year's Irish Cup. If you are willing to make a donation to help ICS defray the costs of this community building event (t-shirts, supplies, snacks, etc.), please send it in to the Front Office or contact Mr. Zelenka: zelenkam@icstampa.org

The cost of the t-shirts is $5 and each student will receive one to build excitement about this event (they will be given out tomorrow during Homeroom - students can either put their Priory shirt over the t-shirt they wear to school or they can change in the bathroom upon arriving). If you are willing to make a good will offering toward this expense or any of the other ones associated with the Irish Cup Championship please do so.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the event should also contact either the Front Office (813) 884-4502 or Mr. Zelenka: zelenkam@icstampa.org. Volunteers must be Background Screened!

Thank you in advance for your help!
