Prayers
We pray for our ICS Class of 2016! May God be with our graduating 8th graders as they move from ICS to high school!

We pray in thanksgiving for those members of the Class of 2016 who were confirmed by Bishop Lynch last night. May the seal of the Holy Spirit inspire them to great deeds of Christian service!

We continue to pray for the grandfather of IanAlejandro Deliz (Gr. 3). May God grant IanAlejandro's grandfather strength to battle his many health issues and may God bring comfort to the entire family.

We continue to pray for Ethan and Devon Ostrander's (Gr. 8 and 6) great-grandmother who is in rehabilitation. May she return to full health soon.

We continue to pray for Jacob Clark's (Gr. 3) aunt, who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. May God send His Holy Spirit and offer healing and strength to Jacob's aunt and their entire family.

We continue to lift up Mary Grace Torralba, a family friend of the Altamiranos (Avery, Gr. 7) who is losing her battle with cancer. May the Holy Spirit intercede on Mary's behalf and bring comfort and peace to Mary and her family and friends.

We continue to pray for Coach Garofolo and his wife for continued good health in the pregnancy of their second child!

We pray for the continued recovery of Flavio da Silva, Mickaella Marcal's (Gr. 2) father.

Hope Will Rise

Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us (Romans 5: 3 - 5).
As Christians, we believe that affliction and suffering can lead us to becoming the people that God created us to be. As St. Paul writes in this letter to the Romans, this affliction produces endurance. Endurance gives us character. And, a character that has been proven produces hope, and hope does not disappoint.

May we have the courage to embrace our trials, the wisdom to see the fruit they can produce and the hope that God's promise of redemption will be fulfilled!

Boast of your afflictions, develop endurance, prove your character, and HOPE WILL RISE.

ICS Academics
Families with students in grades 2 - 8 should have received Iowa Assessment scores last week in the Thursday packet. This is part 4 in a series aimed at helping you to understand the scores provided. For further information, consider checking out this post: http://incarnationcsca.blogspot.com/2014/06/standardized-testing-video-series.html

We have already covered National Percentile Ranking, National Stanine, and Grade Equivalent. Today we will look at Percent Correct:
-Percent Correct
This measurement aligns with a traditional understanding of academic scores and is the closest to feedback received on classroom level assignments. Simply, it is the number of correct answers given by your child divided by the overall number of questions. You will find the percent correct on the detailed version of your child's scores, in the section titled "Domains/Cognitive Levels". It is under the column labeled: %C Std. Next to this column you will see: %C Nat. This is the national average regarding the percent correct for that section of the test. Scores that are on grade level should be within +/-10 points of this National average.
If you have any questions or would like help in interpreting your child's performance on the Iowa Assessment or overall, please contact your child's Homeroom teacher.

ICS Faith
In honor of our Confirmandi (the young people who were confirmed last night), here is a great video to help explain the Sacrament of Confirmation. If you've been confirmed the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit - wisdom, knowledge, understanding, fortitude, piety, counsel, and fear of the Lord - have been sealed and strengthened within you!
