REMINDER - Iowa Assessment

From March 6 - 10, ICS students in grades 2 - 8 will participate in the Iowa Assessment. The Iowa Assessment is a nationwide standardized test aimed at providing feedback as to the overall growth of our students and our school. Scores are compared to the performance of all of the other students who take the same test at the same time. In this way, the test provides teachers, students and families information about the progress of a student.

While there is no way to study for this type of test, students and families can prepare in the following ways:

1. Get a good night's sleep.

2. Eat a good breakfast.
3. Start reviewing grade level content taught thus far this school year.
4. Encourage your son/daughter to do his/her best!

Information for students who qualify for accommodations during this week of testing have been sent to families.

If you have any questions about Iowa Assessments, please contact either your child's Homeroom teacher or Mrs. Riek: rieka@icstampa.org or Mr. Zelenka: icsmzele@icstampa.org.

REMINDER - Morning Care Study Hall

Students will be expected to be either working on assignments for class, studying and/or reading! Please be sure to send students in to school with something academic to do!

In order to become an expert at anything, we must spend time actively working on that skill! Excellence happens on purpose - we will purposefully use this time in the morning to set a tone for our day and find success!

PBIS Updates
As we move forward in the 2nd half of the 2016-17 school year, we will be making a few changes to our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) System.

First, a menu of positive rewards that individual students can "purchase" with accumulated Red Tickets will be introduced beginning next week. Therefore, instead of students only having a random chance at winning a positive reward for their Red Tickets either once a week or once per month, students will now be able to save tickets to "purchase" things like Free Dress Days, Special Snacks, etc. More details will be coming next week.

Second, Virtues Training for students with an accumulation of behavioral Strikes will occur after school on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Students who qualify for Virtues Training may also be subject to eating lunch in the Administrative Office and miss both lunch and recess. Mr. Zelenka will be reaching out to families of students who will be required to participate. In advance, we appreciate your support!

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Zelenka: icsmzele@icstampa.org
